The goal of this paper is to promote the idea that including semantic and goal-oriented aspects in future 6G networks can produce a significant leap forward terms system effectiveness sustainability. Semantic communication goes beyond common Shannon paradigm guaranteeing correct reception each single transmitted bit, irrespective meaning conveyed by bits. that, whenever occurs convey or accomplish goal, what really matters impact received bits have on interpretation intended transmitter accomplishment goal. Focusing aspects, possibly combining them, helps identify relevant information, i.e. information strictly necessary recover Combining knowledge representation reasoning tools with machine learning algorithms paves way build strategies enabling current achieve better capabilities contrast adversarial attacks. bring mechanisms at edge network and, same time, help improve their efficiency
